BIG AIR KITESURFING.

The system behind the project: conditions create the opportunity, technique converts it, equipment supports it, and WOO records the outcome.

QUICK ANSWER

What creates height in big-air kitesurfing?

Height is the outcome of the whole chain: conditions create the opportunity, technique converts it, equipment supports it, and WOO records the result. Wind and water set the ceiling; speed, edge, kite send and release timing decide how much becomes height.

WHY IT MATTERS

HEIGHT IS THE OUTCOME OF THE WHOLE CHAIN.

I do not treat big-air height as one trick.

For Beyond The Edge, it starts with the opportunity the wind and water give me, then comes approach speed, edge, kite send, release timing and a setup I can actually hold down.

Conditions set the ceiling. Technique decides how much of that opportunity I convert. Equipment changes how usable the power feels. WOO gives me a repeatable result to compare.

A technically good ride in modest wind can still produce a modest height. That is why I separate wind opportunity from the achieved WOO result instead of judging every session against my personal best.

Speed, a committed usable edge, the kite send and the release have to work as one sequence. Comparable rides over time are what show whether a change is actually moving the project forward.

01 · CONDITIONS

Create the opportunity.

Wind strength, gusts, direction and water state determine the ceiling available on the day.

02 · TECHNIQUE

Convert the opportunity.

Speed, edge, send and release must arrive as one sequence rather than disconnected actions.

03 · DATA

Find what changed.

Height, airtime, wind, kite, board and the session lesson turn a ride into evidence.
