THE RIDER BEHIND THE DATA

STILL CHASING HEIGHT.

WOO records the numbers. The real project is continuing to progress — rebuilding performance, understanding what works, and refusing to settle for where I am now.

THE PROJECT

A PROJECT, NOT A PROFILE.

Beyond The Edge is designed as a working record: what happened, what the data shows, what I think it means and what changes next.

I’ve spent most of my life on the water and more than 15 years kitesurfing. For over a decade I’ve been chasing height, measuring it, questioning it and trying to work out what actually makes the difference.

Beyond The Edge is really about that obsession. More speed. More load. A harder edge. Better timing. The right kite and board. Better decisions. And having the commitment to keep pushing when the easy metres have already gone.

The target is straightforward: Record a 20 m session on the WOO. At 60, I know I can’t just keep throwing myself at it and hope for the best. Recovery takes longer, mistakes cost more and every decision matters. That makes every metre harder earned — but it also makes getting it right mean more.

Let’s see if I can crack the WOO Code finally.

RIDER CONTEXT

THE VARIABLES THAT MATTER.

These are the practical rider details used when interpreting equipment and WOO data. They are context, not excuses.

1.83 mHeight

Approximate rider height.

GoofyStance

Right foot forward.

16.6 mWOO PB

Primary recorded performance reference.

20 mTARGET

The next measurable objective.

HOME WATER

SCOTLAND. POWERED CONDITIONS.

Troon and Barassie in Ayrshire are recurring home-water references, with sessions also documented elsewhere when the source data preserves the location.

NORTH + SOUTH BEACH

Troon + Barassie.

Regular local riding and performance reference water.

DOCUMENTARY ARCHIVE

The evidence stays attached.

Archive photographs retain location metadata and photographer credits where known.

POWERED BIG AIR

How I ride.

Board speed, late load, clean release, controlled kite timing and repeatability.

WHY IT CONTINUES

RIDE YOUR OWN WAY.

Wind. Water. Judgement. Commitment.

01 · OPPORTUNITY

Chase the conditions.

The session starts before the beach: forecast, direction, water state and the right setup.

02 · COMMITMENT

Ride with intent.

Progress comes from doing the work on the water rather than talking about the target.

03 · REVIEW

Learn from the result.

The data, photographs and session notes make the experience useful beyond the moment itself.

LIVE EVIDENCE

THE RECORD KEEPS MOVING.
