AYRSHIRE · SOUTH BEACH · HOME WATER
My South Beach guide: when Troon fits the wind, what I look for before riding, and how the session connects back to the Beyond The Edge data.

QUICK ANSWER
Troon South Beach becomes the preferred option when the useful wind moves through WSW, SW, SSW and S. It is not interchangeable with Barassie: direction, strength, tide, water state and beach space determine which home spot makes sense on the day.
LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
Troon South Beach is one of my two Ayrshire home spots. For Beyond The Edge, it comes into its own when the useful wind moves through WSW, SW, SSW and S.
I do not treat Troon and Barassie as interchangeable names for the same session. They face the wind differently, so I choose between them around the actual direction, strength, tide, water state and beach space on the day.
Strong usable wind matters, but the session still has to let me carry speed and hold an edge. That is why the Session Report separates the available wind opportunity from the achieved WOO height.
I compare the result with the conditions and with similar Troon rides rather than treating every lower number as lost ability. The location, wind and equipment give the result its meaning.
WHEN I CHOOSE TROON
South Beach becomes the preferred home-water option on the more southerly side of the west-coast wind window.
BIG-AIR OPPORTUNITY
Gust spread, tide, water state, launching room and other beach users remain part of the final decision.
SESSION REVIEW
WOO height is compared with opportunity, location and similar rides rather than read in isolation.
LOCATION
Always confirm the actual conditions, tide, beach space and local access before riding.
NEXT STEP
Connect the place to the same project loop.
