WHY HERE
Repeated-session evidence.
A familiar spot gives a stronger baseline for comparing equipment, conditions and technique.
AYRSHIRE · NORTH SHORE · HOME WATER
My core home-water guide: the W–N wind window, repeated-session context, and why Barassie is central to the Beyond The Edge project.

QUICK ANSWER
Barassie North Shore is the preferred home spot when the useful wind is W, WNW, NW, NNW or N. Direction gets the spot into the decision; strength, gusts, tide, water state, launching room and beach conditions still decide whether the ride is worthwhile.
LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
Barassie North Shore is the place I know best and one of the core locations behind Beyond The Edge.
For the project, it is my preferred home spot when the useful wind is W, WNW, NW, NNW or N.
Its value is not that every session is perfect. It is the history. Repeated rides in the same place give me enough context to separate changes in wind, kite, board and technique from changes in the location itself.
This is where a lot of the practical testing happens: kite choice, board choice, wind opportunity, WOO height and whether a session actually moves the 20 m project forward.
Direction gets Barassie into the conversation; the final decision still depends on wind strength, gusts, tide, water state, launching room and what is happening on the beach.
WHY HERE
A familiar spot gives a stronger baseline for comparing equipment, conditions and technique.
WHEN I CHOOSE IT
Direction gets it shortlisted; the beach and water still make the final decision.
WHY RESULTS VARY
A 6–8 m result in merely usable wind means something different from the same number in genuine big-air conditions.
LOCATION
Always confirm the actual conditions, tide, beach space and local access before riding.
LIVE REFERENCE
A live view from nearby Troon Yacht Haven provides a useful visual check before heading to Barassie.
